The URC awards will help foster new aerospace science and technology concepts; expand the nation's base for aerospace research and development; develop mechanisms for increased participation by faculty and students of HBCUs and OMUs in the research programs of NASA's Mission Directorates; and increase the number of underrepresented minorities at HBCUs and OMUs who obtain advanced degrees in NASA-related fields.
The expected outcome from projects funded under this program is the establishment of significant, multi-disciplinary scientific, engineering, and/or commercial research centers at the host universities that contribute substantially to NASA programs.
